Prom Checklist for Girls

4 Months Before The Prom

  • Start looking at dresses and how much they cost
  • Calculate how much you should be saving each month
  • Speak with your parents about helping with the some of the expenses. If necessary, think about getting a part time job
  • Budget - start putting a budget together of what you think you will need and what you can afford
  • Book a limousine (with a friend to share the costs)
  • Begin working out to tone your body
  • Start your skin care regime

3 Months Before The Prom

  • Make dinner reservations, making a note of the person you spoke with
  • Order or purchase your dream prom dress
  • Pick out accessories that will compliment your dress
  • Assist your date with planning his outfit

  • Start taking care of your hair, if you are growing your hair out, trim it every 4 weeks to avoid frizzy, split ends.

2 Months Before The Prom

  • Make an appointment for your dress alterations, if needed
  • Purchase your shoes
  • Make 2 hair appointments - one for a trial run and the other for the day of the prom.
  • Make prom manicure and pedicure appointments.
  • With your date, pick out the matching corsage and boutonnière.
  • Purchase a handbag and accessories for your dress and hair
  • Purchase your Prom tickets
  • Begin to look at hairstyles or start trying different styles
  • Give your parents a Prom update

1 Month Before The Prom

  • Purchase cosmetics to match your dress
  • Purchase clear deodorant and begin wearing it to ensure it leaves no residue or that you are allergic to it
  • Start wearing your Prom shoes around the house to break them and to make sure you don't get blisters on the night of the Prom

3 Weeks Before The Prom

  • Have your Prom dressed tailored
  • Have your trial hairdo
  • Verify restaurant and limousine bookings
  • Verify your nails and hair appointments

2 Weeks before the Prom

  • Make any necessary alteration to your Prom dress
  • Experiment with your make-up
  • Collect your supplies: camera, nail polish, extra pantyhose, phone card, cash, change, student ID, tickets, etc.
  • If your parents do not know your Prom date, have them meet in a social setting.

1 Week Before The Prom

  • If altered, pick up your Prom dress. Make certain to store it in a safe dry place.
  • Review your checklist to make sure you have covered everything.

The Day Before The Prom

  • Get Your manicure and pedicure
  • Pluck your eyebrows
  • Get plenty of rest

Prom Day

It's a good idea to create a hour-by-hour checklist if you feel you might forget something, Following are some suggested tips:

  • Have a healthy breakfast and lunch
  • Bath or shower before you go to your hair and make-up appointment (shave your legs and underarms, but don't wash your hair)
  • Pick up the flowers and refrigerate them
  • For the hair appointment, wear a button down shirt for easy removal when getting dressed for the prom
  • Give yourself enough time to apply your make-up (at least 1.5 hours)
  • Pack your handbag. Remember your camera, mobile phone or calling card, money, make-up, tickets, important telephone numbers.
  • Greet your date at the door, have your parents to photos, then HAVE FUN!
