Have a Baby-Que

Have a cookout or a "Baby-Que". Play baby shower games such as "name the family member" (where you ask questions that no-one may know about the mommy and daddy to be's and their families) to see if someone knows who the question is about (i.e., Who was in a rock band in college, Who graduated with honors, who took violin lessons as a child). Cook up some hot dogs and hamburgers while listening to favorite tunes. While less formal, this type of baby shower creates a fun environment for everyone, including little children (no babysitter will be needed)!

Baby Shower Co-Ed Parties

Include a male and female planner for the baby shower so you have the best of both worlds. This will make for a much more successful baby shower as both sexes have a say in what goes into the party.

• The décor of the party should incorporate both male and female tastes.
• While finger sandwiches may be customary at many all female baby showers, it may not provide enough nourishment for the guys. Incorporate Hors d'oeuvres like little pizzas, pigs in a blanket, chicken wings, etc. Even better, Have the guys do the cooking while the women have a girl's only moment (belly casting or sharing general birthing stories).
• Baby shower games should be suited for both genders. Games like timed changing diaper relays, guess the belly size (stay away from guessing the mother-to-be's weight at all costs!).
• If the event will be outside of the home (i.e., restaurant), the location should be suited for both men and women! A tea party atmosphere would bore the men as a restaurant/bar would work well. If it is a male only baby shower, a day of golf, a concert or sporting event may be an fun alternative.
• While many women love watching the baby shower presents being opened at the end of a baby shower, this tradition tends to bore men. Plan the gift opening ceremony somewhere around the men having the option of drinking a beer and watching tv while the women enjoy an area to open the gifts.
• If gifts are going to be given out to winners of baby shower games, make sure to include some masculine gift items. Flasks, Wine and restaurant/steakhouse Gift Certificates would be appreciated.
