Little girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice. Now, if you have bought sugar and spice lately, you know that they are not that expensive – so why should decorating her room cost you a fortune? There is a way to create a dream come true princess room without robbing a bank.

The walls should be the first thing you can start with. You want to give her walls a new color. Choose a pastel color, like lilac. You can buy peel and stick Disney princess character decals and appliques as wall accents. Place them around the light switches and on some of the furniture pieces. The great thing about these decals, is you can reuse them over and over, placing them somewhere else.

If she has a collection of stuffed animals in her room, think about hanging a net in a corner of her room. You can attach the hooks and anchor in a corner without taking up too much space. Now, all the animals can be off the floor – allowing for more play area. To give her room a new look on lighting, replace the lampshade. You can find a stylish lampshade at any bargain store. You may also want to use a pink, or other pastel colored light bulb for the lamp.

Area rugs can be beautiful on her floor. You will be amazed at the large selection available. Use your computer to search online for one. Consider flower shaped or heart shaped area rugs. These rugs are affordable, lightweight and easy on the budget.

Change is good but, you don’t need to get rid of all of your daughter’s old stuff. Take her bedspread and add lace around the edges. Pile her bed full of throw pillows for added comfort, as well as style. Don’t just get a square pillow, opt for different shapes, colors, and sizes.

Window treatments are a must for decorating any room. Use sheer panels. They are available in a variety of colors. You can create a beautiful look by taking your pastel sheers and placing them on the outer edge of the windows. Then use an interlocking looped waterfall valance or scarf valance. These do not cost a lot of money, and are absolutely beautiful.

Decorating your little girl’s room shouldn’t cost much if you plan and take the time to search for affordable items. You can find a lot of the furniture and furnishings in thrift stores and discount stores at great bargains. It shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg, to make your little girl’s room a dreamland.
