It is a nice feeling to welcome an infant into the home. However, once children they begin to grow and become school age, things can quickly change. There are many things to be done to prepare them for a new challenge, outside of the home. While, you set time aside for them during their infancy and toddler year, this time must also extend to education. One of the areas that a child may struggle with is the area of writing. It is important to understand the resources that are available to you when your kids need help with writing.

The first resource that is a available involves phonics. Phonics is teaching a person to read and write by associating the word to the sound that it makes. For instance, you teach children how to read and write, or to illustrate the difference of p and f sounds. Look for tools in the form of visual aids. You can also get words that begin with these letters and help kids identify and write them down.

Secondly, try to have your kids write “the word of the day.” Each day, they will look forward to seeing a word. learning how to speak it, spell it and writing it properly. It is important not to push them. Some words may need to be extended into for the length of two days. You know your child, use your judgment. The writing process must be systematic – not drastic.

The third option is to incorporate the use of learning games. There are times when children get bored with the stiff and plain setting of a classroom. This is an opportunity to introduce new and stimulating games to challenge their minds. There are a host of online resources that can provide you with games and other educational activities for kids.

Finally, keep track your child’s progress. From having small discussions with teachers or scanning their notebooks, you can assist with any potential problems, as well as seek additional resource information. For children who may not be performing up to par, the reason may be shyness. Shyness may lead them to simply not showing their intelligence. The feedback from teachers will help you with determining how your child is performing at school.
