When a baby is born they are thoroughly examined by doctors to make sure they are healthy. Once you leave the hospital with your baby it is your responsibility to take care of your baby’s health. Baby health is taken care of by pediatricians. Pediatricians are doctors that specialize in taking care of babies, toddlers, and children.

Babies will need a six week check up and vaccinations in order to stay healthy. Of course there are other things that have to be done to ensure that your baby stays healthy. Regular check ups are important but so is proper diet.

Breast feeding is the healthiest form of feeding babies but if you choose not to breast feed or can not breast feed for some reason then your baby’s doctor will tell you what type of formula is best for the baby.

Babies also need to be on a feeding schedule so that the baby gets enough to eat and does not eat too much. Once a baby starts eating baby food it is important that you feed them a variety of foods so that they get the nutrients their little bodies need. Some people even choose to make their own organic baby foods.

This can actually be good for the baby if you know how to do it correctly. If you want to feed a baby home made organic food but don’t know how then you could look online for recipes to help. There are several different websites online that have dedicated themselves to helping you keep your baby healthy. If you find that you do not know what to do when a baby gets sick it is a good idea to call your pediatrician for advice.

If you can’t get in touch with your pediatrician then you may want to try calling an emergency room or even taking the baby to one. You don’t actually have to rush the baby to the doctor or hospital every time they have a cold. If your baby starts running a very low grade fever with a cough you could treat it at home. You can buy many different medications for babies over the counter these days. It may be a good idea however to talk to your pediatrician first.
